What is Plexus?

Plexus is storage and dashboards for hardware teams. It stores the data your machines send and shows it on dashboards your whole team can use.

Plexus is made by Plexus Aerospace, Inc. The product lives at plexus.company.

Who it's for

Hardware teams with devices that send data: robots, drones, and boards like the Raspberry Pi, Jetson and ESP32. If a device can make an HTTP request, it can send to Plexus.

What it connects to

Your own hardware sends data in:

  • The Python SDK, for Raspberry Pi, Jetson and other Linux boards.
  • Plain HTTP, for ESP32, Arduino, bare-metal and any other platform.
  • Prometheus remote_write.

Plexus can also read data that already lives somewhere else. See Connections.

  • Databases: PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB, ClickHouse, MySQL and QuestDB. Paste a connection string and write SQL. InfluxDB connects too, without SQL.

PX4 flight logs (ULog) and CSV files can be imported into a device on a paid plan. Imported data is stored in Plexus like anything else the device sends.

The full list, with a page for each, is at plexus.company/integrations.

Where your data lives

It depends on which way the data travels.

  • Devices push. Data from the SDK, HTTP or remote_write is stored in Plexus Time Series, Plexus's own time-series storage. How long it is kept depends on your plan: 7 days on Free, 3 years on the Founding 50. See Plans and limits.
  • Connections. Plexus can also connect to a database you already run. It queries it on demand over a read-only connection.

Plans and limits

FreeFounding 50
DevicesUp to 3 (connections count toward the 3)No device limit
Readings kept7 days3 years
Events kept7 days3 years
Card requiredNoYes, unless you start with a free-month code
IngestHTTP POST /ingest onlyHTTP and live WebSocket
Video streaming and recordingNoYes — 20 recorded hours a month

On the Founding 50 you can keep one device's data for a shorter time: 7, 30, 90, 180 or 365 days, set per device under Settings → Data. On every plan, 1-minute rollups are kept for 90 days and hourly rollups for 5 years; Free can read only its last 7 days of them.

If your Founding 50 starts with a free month, that month has its own limits: 10 devices, the last 30 days of history readable, and 250 million rows. Your data is still kept for the full 3 years. If you add no card by the end of the month, the org goes back to Free.

The Founding 50 is $299 a month on a 6-month contract. Prices are on the pricing page. Rate limits and other specs are on Hardware integration.

Getting your data out

Data stored in Plexus is readable over the Data API with an API key. Responses are JSON, and export gives you a file.

  • Metrics: list metric names, get the latest values, or query a time range.
  • Events: query faults, state changes and log lines.
  • Devices: list every device in your org.
  • Live streams: follow new data over WebSocket.
  • Export: download metrics as a CSV or Parquet file.

See Getting your data out.

Plexus and Grafana

Grafana is a general-purpose dashboard builder. Plexus builds the fleet view for you on first data. See Plexus vs Grafana.
